Flexible Group Session Schedules for Hybrid IOP and PHP Programs

We are committed to providing flexible and accessible treatment options that accommodate the schedules and preferences of our veterans. To this end, we offer a variety of group session times throughout the week, from Monday to Friday, catering to both our hybrid Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).

Our hybrid IOP and PHP sessions are thoughtfully scheduled as follows:

  • Hybrid IOP Morning Sessions: Available from 9am to 12pm, these sessions are designed for those seeking a balance between their recovery process and daily commitments, offering the flexibility of both telehealth and in-person participation.

  • PHP Sessions: For those in need of more intensive support, our PHP sessions run from 9am to 5pm, providing a comprehensive, day-long program that addresses various aspects of recovery in a supportive group setting.

  • Hybrid IOP Evening Sessions: Recognizing the needs of veterans who may have daytime obligations, we also offer Hybrid IOP sessions from 6pm to 9pm, allowing for participation in our program through both telehealth and in-person attendance after work hours.

Our hybrid model signifies our dedication to inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that veterans can benefit from our programs regardless of their location or schedule. These varied session times are part of our commitment to offering a pathway to recovery that is as convenient as it is effective.

Advanced Medical Care in a Supportive Environment

Group therapy is an essential part of any addiction treatment plan, as it allows clients to share their experiences and provide feedback and support to one another. Groups are facilitated by our experienced counselors, who help individuals gain insight into the addiction process and learn coping skills they can use in sobriety

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a cornerstone of our therapeutic offerings at Upper Path Recovery, embodying our commitment to evidence-based treatment. CBT is a highly effective, structured approach that focuses on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to substance abuse and mental health disorders. Through one-on-one sessions with licensed therapists, veterans learn to recognize their triggers, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and gradually shift their thinking towards more positive and productive patterns. This therapy is particularly beneficial for addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other co-occurring disorders, offering veterans the tools they need to manage their symptoms and reduce the likelihood of relapse. The skills learned through CBT have lasting benefits, equipping veterans with the mental strategies to face challenges and maintain their recovery long after leaving our facility.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT):

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is another evidence-based therapy we offer, renowned for its effectiveness in treating individuals with intense emotional distress, including those with borderline personality disorder, suicidal ideation, and substance use disorders. DBT emphasizes the development of four key life skills: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. Our licensed DBT therapists work with veterans in both individual and group settings, helping them to accept their experiences, learn to live in the moment, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others. This acceptance and commitment to change are crucial for veterans who often struggle with emotional pain and the aftermath of traumatic experiences. DBT’s holistic approach not only aids in recovery from substance abuse but also significantly improves quality of life by teaching veterans how to decrease conflict, manage stress, and navigate emotional situations more effectively.

Motivational Interviewing:

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a client-centered, directive method of therapy that enhances an individual’s motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence. Recognizing that the decision to pursue recovery is deeply personal, MI treats the veteran as the primary agent of change. Our trained therapists use an empathetic and encouraging communication style to strengthen the veteran’s own motivation and commitment to change behaviors. This approach is particularly effective in the early stages of treatment, helping individuals to overcome denial, recognize the negative impacts of their substance use, and envision a positive future. MI is based on the concept of collaborative partnership between the therapist and the veteran, creating a supportive environment where veterans feel understood and empowered to make significant life changes. This method complements our other therapeutic approaches by preparing veterans to actively engage in their recovery process.

A Holistic Approach to Well-being

Understanding that true recovery encompasses more than just overcoming addiction, our sanctuary offers holistic services designed to heal the mind, body, and spirit. These include:

Nutritional Counseling:

Our Nutritional Counseling program is designed to restore physical well-being, enhance the recovery process, and support long-term health. Recognizing the impact of substance abuse on nutritional status, our registered dietitians work closely with each veteran to develop personalized eating plans that address deficiencies, support organ repair, and promote overall health. We emphasize balanced diets rich in nutrients essential for brain health and recovery, incorporating whole foods, lean proteins, healthy fats, and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Education on the role of nutrition in managing cravings, mood stabilization, and energy levels is also provided, empowering our veterans to make informed choices about their diet and well-being.

Physical Fitness Programs:

Our Physical Fitness Programs are tailored to meet the individual needs and fitness levels of our veterans, promoting not only physical health but also mental and emotional well-being. Regular physical activity is proven to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, improve sleep, and build self-esteem—critical factors in a successful recovery. Our facility offers a variety of fitness activities, including strength training, cardiovascular exercises, group sports, and yoga, all led by certified fitness instructors who understand the unique challenges faced by veterans in recovery. These programs aim to establish a routine of physical activity that veterans can continue beyond their time at our center, laying the foundation for a healthier, more active lifestyle.

Mindfulness and Stress Management Techniques:

In the journey of recovery, managing stress and developing mindfulness are key to maintaining sobriety and achieving mental health. Our Mindfulness and Stress Management Techniques offer veterans effective tools to cope with the triggers and stresses that can lead to relapse. Through practices such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, and yoga, veterans learn to cultivate a sense of inner peace, increase self-awareness, and improve emotional regulation. These techniques are taught by experienced practitioners and are integrated into daily routines, helping veterans to develop resilience against stress and enhance their capacity to live in the present moment, a skill that is invaluable during recovery and beyond.

Recreational Therapy:

Through a diverse array of activities—including arts and crafts, music, outdoor adventures, and team sports—veterans can explore new hobbies, build social connections, and rediscover joy and fulfillment in sobriety. These activities not only provide therapeutic benefits by reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression but also boost confidence, encourage teamwork, and foster a sense of accomplishment. Led by certified recreational therapists, our program is designed to support personal development, enhance social skills, and promote a balanced, enriching lifestyle. By integrating recreational therapy into our comprehensive treatment model, we provide veterans with valuable opportunities to heal emotionally and mentally, while also encouraging physical activity and creative expression.

A Commitment to Continuous Care

Recovery is a journey, not a destination. Our facility offers ongoing support through aftercare planning, alumni programs, and connections to community resources to ensure a smooth transition back into daily life. We believe in empowering our veterans with the tools and support necessary for maintaining sobriety and mental health in the long term.
